ANTIFA NOW THREATENS FREE SPEECH ON CAMPUS Conservative students face physical attack

Universities are supposed to be places open to free expression and the exchange of ideas.

But today, there is no more repressive place in the country than a typical American campus. And the leading opponents of free speech are the masked, violent and extreme leftists known as “antifa.”

The left-wing extremists have grown increasingly militant in the tactics they are using to shut down ideological opponents on campus. Hundreds of masked protesters at the University of Minnesota recently conducted a violent protest against a speech by conservative activist and YouTube commentator Lauren Southern.

Fights erupted outside the event, forcing police to intervene. Members of the conservative group Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), which hosted the event, say they were “tagged” and set upon by masked antifa activists who spat on them, hit them, shoved them off bicycles and maced them.

As revealed in the new WND Special Report “Antifa: What Americans Need to Know about the Alt-Left,” so called “anti-fascists” are simply communists and anarchists operating under a brand designed to disguise their extremist agenda.

Violence is inherent to the antifa program, as activists explicitly and overtly reject the right of free speech for anyone they designate as “fascist.”

And the antifa definition of “fascist” is broad, indeed.

As the report notes:

According to the antifa definition of what constitutes fascist or oppressive ideas, the vast majority of all human beings everywhere, at all times and throughout all history, are rendered proto-fascists. ‘Racism’ is another word meaning one thing to antifa and something entirely different to almost everyone else.

Most Americans, liberal or conservatives, would say they oppose racism. If asked to define ‘racism,’ they might say it is hating people because of their ethnic or racial origin, believing certain groups are inherently inferior, or acting cruelly towards others because they are different from you. However, in the eyes of antifa and those who practice critical race theory at American universities, ‘racism’ means failing to support a sweeping program of social revolution to dismantle Western civilization itself.

Thus, in the eyes of antifa, supporters of traditional marriage, capitalism and President Trump are “fascist” and legitimate targets for violence and repression. Conservatives and libertarians are especially under threat on college campuses, where faculty often justify the use of violence against political opponents and may even openly identify as antifa.

For example, more than 100 faculty at Dartmouth University condemned university President Philip Hanlon when he criticized Mark Bray, a visiting faculty member at Dartmouth’s Gender Research Institute and the author of “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook.” Bray is a vocal supporter of the leftist movement who writes in the handbook about the need to punish not just “fascists,” but supporters of Donald Trump.

The “alt-left” has been around for decades, but conservatives have remained ignorant. Now, WND takes you inside antifa with an exclusive special report revealing the origins, motivations and future of America’s most widespread and active domestic terrorist group. Antifa around the country also seem to regard Trump supporters and College Republicans as legitimate targets. At Columbia University in New York, antifa circulated mugshots of members of the College Republicans campus chapter and ominously told supporters to “tell them what you think” after the group invited independent journalist Mike Cernovich to campus on Oct. 30, along with Herman Cain, Dennis Prager and other speakers.

Typically, antifa justify the threats on the grounds “people of color, immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQIA folks, etc., feel threatened to an infinitely larger degree every moment of their lives now,” thus framing any conservative political action as “aggression.”

Though antifa typically shun law enforcement and the courts, some have turned to the legal system to harass conservative students. Yvette Felarca, the lead organizer of BAMN (By Any Means Necessary) and a participant in numerous violent political protests, filed a restraining order against the head of the Berkeley College Republicans. The order was recently dismissed by a judge – the fifth such order from BAMN that has been dismissed this year.

Scott Greer, deputy editor of the Daily Caller and the author of “No Campus For White Men” and an expert on the politics of higher education, said the violence of antifa after the election of Donald Trump has surprised even him.

“When it comes to antifa, most of that is coming from your average leftist being so unhinged and mentally deranged by Trump winning that they literally believe a fascist dictator is in charge of the White House and they have to stop him by any means necessary,” Greer explained.

But as the WND special report explains, even if Trump had lost the White House, the ideology of antifa necessitates constant violence and repression, as their definition of “oppression” renders almost everyone in the world a political enemy and supporter of the “far right.”

“Society will never be perfectly ‘equal,’ and new scapegoats must always be found to explain ‘oppression,’” the report explains. “Thus, adopting egalitarianism as the supreme virtue leads not to a society of equals, but a society endlessly divided by newly invented labels, at war with itself and constantly seeking new enemies to blame for its failure to realize an impossibility. Antifa, by insisting on this vision and asserting the right to attack anyone who disagrees with it, is thus assured of a permanent existence, even if there wasn’t one actual ‘fascist’ or National Socialist anywhere in the world. Antifa is thus inherently totalitarian.”

It’s not surprising the American college campus, dominated as it is by academics dedicated to inventing ever more elaborate and expansive definitions of “oppression,” is the center of antifa activism in America today.
